Things are ALWAYS
happening around St. PhilipÕs.
Here's just a sampling of some of what
you might have missed.
Downstairs in
the Sunday School classroom wing, they take their stories very literally. Early
in the fall, most classes start with Creation and move on through the Bible.
And when they hear, ÒLet there be lightÓ they want their LIGHT. And not just
any light, but also the light in the ladiesÕ restroom! (And they are very
grateful to the Buildings Committee who make the time to make that light
happen!)

And a chance
for all to participate in the PhilippianPix: this interactive unit is called,
ÒWho Can Find a Home for the Bibles?Ó In a de-cluttering operation, these Good
News for Modern Man Bibles were found all over the downstairs classrooms. They
are rarely used, as the teachers have fairly specific needs for certain
translations. Mostly hardbacks, they cannot be used for the prison ministry (we
tried that already). If you know of a place that can use these Bibles, could
you please contact the E-pistle editor? (e_pistle@citcom.net)

St.
Phillippians fifth grade and lower use Godly Play during Sunday School. A
Montessori-based program, each lesson uses manipulatives for the lesson of the
day. These pictures show off two of our loveliest story materials. In the first
picture, our storyteller Anne helps Max with the ÒSynagogue and the Upper
Room,Ó which combines the story of Jesus when He says, ÒToday this scripture
has been fulfilled in your hearingÓ and the story of the Last Supper in the
Upper Room. The two pieces then fit together to form a cruciform church.

The second
picture shows the older children hearing the newest story for the first time.
ÒSetting the TableÓ has child-sized parts to the altar and credence table for
the children to work with, including the linens as well, so that they can learn
the Òspecial names for a special Feast.Ó
