Things are ALWAYS happening around St. PhilipÕs.
Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.

On a great fall morning, a crowd appeared at St. PaulÕs-in-the-Valley for the Cemetery Clean Up. The Fearless Clean Up Crew pictured below are Jack R, Mary S, Dorothy H, and Mary Lou N. Jack and Dorothy deserve heaping accolades for their tireless work over the years for the cemetery. Dorothy (along with many clerical duties) has led a tireless one-woman crusade against the intrusive English Ivy; if you visit the cemetery now, you might not know that the ivy was once almost overtaking this beautiful spot. Jack is the #1 Cheerleader. His enthusiasm for St. PaulÕs-in-the-Valley cannot be contained, and he works tirelessly to promote, research, clean, advertise, writeÉthe list goes on and on.  I tried to think up a quick way to sum up their work and dedication, and it simply canÕt be done. We thank you, Jack and Dorothy – and all the other volunteers who spent the morning cleaning and planting. (For more pictures of the Cemetery Clean Up, click here.)

ItÕs always a BIG day when Ten Thousand Villages comes to the church. Elizabeth B and mom Suzanne B spent quite some time debating on how to spend their money. The World Missions Committee reported a great turn out! Start saving your pennies now – that very same committee already has October 18-19, 2008 booked for the next Ten Thousand Villages sale! (For more pictures of the Ten Thousand Villages Sale, click here.)

A big crowd (more than this) showed up for the All EYC Eucharist and dinner. The table of beverages was popular!

While working on other tasks, two members of the E-pistle staff shared a trip down memory lane: we both owned the same Macs back in the day. For others who might also view such a thing with nostalgia, I enclose the picture that took us back! (And yes, we both still use MacsÉ.)

Awhile back, the PhilippianPix Star Photographer was surprised by the new Daughters of the King Banner. This weekÕs bulletin gives a further clue: the banner was given by an anonymous benefactor and will be dedicated at the 9:00 a.m. service on Sunday, November 4.
