Things are ALWAYS
happening around St. PhilipÕs.
Here's just a sampling of some of what
you might have missed.
The
PhilippianPix editor has been around enough to learn about the importance of
boxes (this is especially important during Advent and ChristmasÉ) So, in honor
of Advent, here is a little tour of two little known but important boxes at St.
PhilipÕs.
The first is
ÒThe Box.Ó If you need to leave a check in the office for your pledge or some
other church-related reason, you will be asked to put it in The Box. A young
St. Philippian decorated it to make its name obvious. Our co-treasurer
entrusted to make deposits can quickly find what he needs here.

HereÕs
another angle of the box so that you can see its location the church office.

Another
important box is the lost and found box, which resides underneath the mailboxes
in the office, as illustrated below.

HereÕs a
close-up of the Lost and Found Box. I learned AFTER the fact that the other
side of the box has a nice label with ÒLost and FoundÓ on itÉ. You will notice
that stuff is now stacked on the top of the too-full Lost and Found box.

Out of
curiosity, I took the box to some unused floor space to see what I could find.
If you leave some item around the church, it will usually end up here. The
assortment of items is astounding!

Let me try to
identify some of the items in some close-ups. (IÕm starting in the bottom right
and identifying in a somewhat clockwise mannerÉ) I hope that some of these items
will find their true homes just in time for the holidays. Here, a green
placemat, a wool ball cap, a black purse, a red poncho, a black wig (???), a
brown childÕs backpack with a few action figures in it, and a pink/red kitchen
towel.

Two books (a
childÕs book and an adult book; I canÕt remember their titles nowÉ), a coffee
mug, IÕm not quite sure what the little black case is (but a name is attached
to it), a workout weight, a winter scarf.

A Nalgene
water bottle, a single glove, a ladyÕs handkerchief, a bungee cord, an ivory
hair bow, a disposable camera, a gold case (for those foldable reading glasses?
for a Bic lighter? For a lipstick?), a single earring (hard to see), and some
car keys (again: ???) And, at the very top, an empty eyeglass case. There is
something like a business card there, next to the camera, but I confess I canÕt
remember what it wasÉ

And finally,
from left to right: a pair of reading glasses and their case, a large drinking
glass, three umbrellas and shot of the coffee mug again. If you recognize any
of their items, they are sadly waiting for you in the Lost and Found box in the
office!

And, one
additional thought: Can you just picture us as a congregation, filing into
Sunday morning worship, with our black wig, our umbrellas, our drinking glass,
and our bungee cord?
