Things are ALWAYS
happening around St. PhilipÕs.
Here's just a sampling of some of what
you might have missed.
During the
Annual Meeting on December 2, St. PhilipÕs was abuzz with activity once most of
the adults were out of the way. The teenagers met for an extra hour of
doughnuts and fellowship downstairs before resuming their normal Sunday School.
All but one teenager: Emma S bravely agreed to be the accompanist for the
Christmas pageant this year.

A large crowd
worked for almost two hours in the Church rehearsing the pageant. Those not
present would be surprised how easy it is to work with such a large group of
children. They take the pageant very seriously. (Be sure to come support their
efforts to tell the Christmas story at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 16.)

Announcer #1,
Kathleen E, follows the script as the rehearsal progresses.

At Wonderful
Wednesday, the younger ones shed their cares away at the door. The adults were
amused at the juxtaposition of the pile of backpacks next to the lovely
poinsettia and twinkle lights.

There was no
ÒactivityÓ at Wonderful Wednesday; the children moved directly downstairs to
participate in the Advent Workshop. The place was humming with glitter, glue,
felt, markersÉ(and do you notice those new glamorous chairs in the YAC? Wow!)
Hannah L is too engrossed to even notice the photographer.

The parents
are able to stand by and chat. Oh – and hold all the treasures that their
children create! Many thanks to Adele C for providing a wonderful evening.

The Advent
Workshop always ends quietly with the Godly Play story, ÒThe Traditions of
Christmas.Ó The children hear how the people of the earth longed for the SonÉto
be the Light of the World, to bring Peace, to give us everlasting life; and the
gift He gave was Himself, the Son.
