Things are ALWAYS happening around St. PhilipÕs.
Here's
just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.
Can you believe it? The
PhilippianPix editor actually has her act together and has scraped together a
few pictures. While the webmaster cannot be held responsible for any reason for
the lack of PhilippianPix over the summer, he was not available 24 hours a day
as weÕve come to expect!
Harry (webmaster
extraordinaire) and Mary were off serving as ÒIdaho Parks & Recreation
VolunteersÓ in Priest Lake State Park in northern Idaho. To quote him, ÒWe volunteered at Priest Lake the month of July,
alternating two days a week at the kiosk collecting park entrance fees and
dispensing information, and two days in the parkÕs store serving customers
which included scooping ice cream—LOTS of ice cream!Ó

On August 24th, 9 or
so St. Philippian youth (grades 6-12) headed to Camp Rockmont in Black
Mountain, NC for the Diocesan SPLASH! event. They played, they ate, they socialized,
they swam. WeÕll put a few pictures on the website, but hereÕs a teaser! (Note:
there should be no accusations of favoritism of photographs chosen for the
PhilippianPix: this photograph CLEARLY shows one of Camp RockmontÕs features: a
huge waterslide!)

Wonderful Wednesday begins St.
PhilipÕs FIFTH season! On Wednesday night, intrepid trainistas gathered for
ÒTrain Night.Ó

This poor soul had an
unfortunate accident on the tracks, losing an arm.

The evening ended with a short
activity of a ÒCoal Brigade Race,Ó wherein the participants had to pass the
bucket of (new) coal over and under. This group of adults was entirely TOO competitive, wanting to extend the
challenge to best two out of three! (The
next installment of Wonderful Wednesday will return Oct. 8 for ÒThe Wizard of
Oz Night.Ó)

Several new photo albums will be
added to the St. PhilipÕs Photo Gallery (click here) in the
coming weeks, including the 2008 Fall Parish Picnic, MidBEGINNINGdle 2008
(middle school retreat), and the elusive Jamaica Mission Trip pictures. HereÕs
a teaser for the Jamaica pictures:

I have always been fond of these, which I very professionally
call Òpopcorn bushes.Ó (I canÕt identify much in a yard except for maybe hard
stuff like ÒgrassÓÉ.) The grounds around St. PhilipÕs are always neat and
beautiful, and I am thankful for those who keep it that way.
