December
19, 2008
Things are ALWAYS happening around St. PhilipÕs.
Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.
St. Philippians look out for
each other through thick and thin. When Tom had surgery recently, a familiar Santa
visited him at the hospitalÉ

December is a fitting month to
welcome a new baby, and St. PhilipÕs claims this one! Isaac Brian Pipkins is the son of our groundskeeper and facilities
assistant Brian Pipkins. Isaac (all 7 lbs., 9 oz. of
him) was born December 8, 2008.

It has been unseasonably warm the last couple of days, but this is
actually an older picture that just came to light (when the PhilippianPix
Editor borrowed her daughterÕs computer and found a great picture as the
backgroundÉ) This picture was taken in September 2008 at the Diocesan
ÒBeginning in the MiddleÓ Conference at Valle Crucis
for middle schoolers. Allison and the other girls pictured were on the teen staff
for this conference. (Note: Any fondness that the Editor has for this
particular picture is obviously entirely professionalÉ)

The rehearsals for the annual
Christmas Pageant can often be like herding cats, but for a brief moment, the
children gather quietly. One of our Godly Play storytellers (Jayne, on this
particular Sunday) tells the appropriate Advent lesson for the day before the
children start their ÒworkÓ: rehearsing.

This lovely sweater probably arrived
at St. PhilipÕs for the Thanksgiving Feast, and has not found its way home yet.
WeÕd love for it to be able to go home for ChristmasÉcan you help? If you
recognize it, please give Jeanne a call in the parish office!
