Things are ALWAYS happening around St. PhilipÕs.

Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.

ItÕs only February, and there have been cold days with flurries and warm spring-like days. Looking around the parking lot, the Editor spied this:

No sign of spring thereÉbut from the car window, backing up, a tiny flash of green! The Editor actually got OUT of the car to investigate further, and found tiny pansies in the cold.

Maria had much the same thought, snapping this with her phone at the back fence between her house and the church!

And the VERY next day after Maria snapped those rays of sunshine, that stalwart lad Steve was up early in the heavy rain and sleet to meet the Jr. EYC Bible Study youth at Sunrise Cafˇ. Steve meets them there at 7:00 a.m. for breakfast and Bible study, and makes sure they all get to school on time. It takes a morning person to face this crowd in the rain and sleet!

Besides his ability to meet with this active crowd of middle schoolers so early in the morning, Steve also has to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines. For example, the PhilippianPix editor was kindly asked to crop this picture to prevent identification of the contents of this oneÕs plateÉ

Zen and the Art of Godly Play Maintenance: Many of the wooden figures used in Godly Play are 12-13 years old, carved for us by several members of St. PhilipÕs over the years. Over time they have dried out, and some needed a little sanding to remove wayward ink from a marker. In a quiet, lovely moment, these figures of Jesus, the 12 disciples, a misplaced Miriam, and a pine tree for a brand new St. Elizabeth of Portugal story got a treatment with a new food-grade beeswax polish for wooden toys. This activity comes HIGHLY recommended! It was very soothingÉ
