Things are ALWAYS happening around St. PhilipÕs.
Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.
Things certainly DO happen
around St. PhilipÕs – sometimes so fast youÕd have to have a camera ready
24/7! And, in the resulting rush, photos get passed by accidentally. A MONTH
ago, Rob snapped this photo of the newly formed St. PhilipÕs Dulcimer Choir. Patti Black, our Hosannah Music
Director, sat in with five of the new choir. Patti offered suggestions
regarding selections and arrangements for the choir's debut gig at the 9:00
a.m. service on April 19th. Pictured here, beginning clockwise on
Patti's left, are Harry, Carol, Ellie, Lucy, and Mary. Do turn out to hear this
new addition to the 9:00 a.m. music on April 19th!

With Holy Week and Easter upon
us, many volunteers put in overtime to get the job done – between March
28th and Easter Sunday the parish office put out ELEVEN different
bulletins! This would not have been possible without our cheerful volunteers.
Caroline dodged the camera, but Ann and Steve were caught stuffing inserts in
the Easter Sunday bulletins. Many thanks to all concerned for a great team
effort!

Palm Sunday brought on another
onslaught of photo ops – currently residing in the digital realm are 212
photos of Palm Sunday alone! As soon as things quiet down, St. PhilipÕs Elite
Geeks will distill those pictures into a manageable number and post them on the
St. PhilipÕs website, but for the moment, enjoy these as a teaser. In our
first, Eva waits for the triumphal procession into Jerusalem during the annual
Holy Week Walk.

Just like Hollywood, St.
PhilipÕs has whole families with a thespian bent! Here, Scott plays Jesus in
the Holy Week Walk, with his father Dan and sons Brendan and Kevin on the cast
list as disciples.

The PhilippianPix Editor got rather tickled at this photo of
Steve playing the role of Pilate. One wonders if he might be enjoying the
fanning of the children/youth just a tad too much! (Many thanks to Claire and
Gillie for the Palm Sunday photographs.)

More pictures will be forthcoming of the BishopÕs visitation,
but during that busy Palm Sunday morning the Bishop also took a few moments to
dedicate MariaÕs recently completed communion kit. The kit includes a pottery
chalice and paten from WNC, candles from Ten Thousand Villages, a small stole
made by a parishioner at Trinity in Atchinson,
Kansas, and a cross made by Rick Hoecker as a 12 year
old Boy Scout many moons ago. The box itself was made by
Michael Doty, rector at Holy Cross, Tryon.

Moving right along, the next
photo op (or rather, the next time a camera was at the readyÉ) occurred after
the Easter Vigil service, when the PhilippianPix Ace
Photographer captured this photo of the newest member of St. PhilipÕs, Evelyn
Grace (ŌMimiĶ). Mimi was baptized at the Easter Vigil and had the lot of us
charmed!

And, after Easter Sunday, we can
all take a collective breathÉhowever, bright and early on Monday, April 13th,
it was standing room only in the parish office. Since the office was officially
closed on Monday, a crowd showed up unexpectedly and independently of each
other to try to get some work done! Here, Mark and Ernie replace the
fluorescent lights.

After all that, the only thing left to say is this: Alleluia! Christ is risen!
The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!
