Things are ALWAYS happening around St. PhilipÕs.
Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have
missed.
Mess = St.
Philippians at their best. Now, normally, Joan keeps all of us at St. PhilipÕs
in tiptop shape – things are invariably clean and neat all the times. But
the PhilippianPix Official Camera found some BIG
messes recently.
Gabrielle, a
junior at Guilford College, has been tutoring younger students in the
Greensboro community. She noticed that her immigrant students, some of them
brought here by Amnesty International, were cold when the weather changed
recently. Many of these students do not speak English at all. When we asked
Gabrielle how she was able to communicate with them, she responded, ÒWell,
pretty much ÔBrrrr! IÕm cold!Õ is the same in any
language!Ó She made a simple request that perhaps people might leave some warm
clothing in SteveÕs office if they had any to spare. SteveÕs office is
overflowing with warm clothes for Gabrielle! What a GOOD mess!

Deacon Annie has
been collecting toiletries, baskets, and other treats to create Òbeauty
baskets.Ó The camera found more messes in the parish hall foyer – more
evidence of St. Philippian generosity!

And, on Deacon
AnnieÕs desk in the parish office, MORE messes for the beauty baskets!

On the other hand,
Carolyn is keeping the library immaculate! The library is a room that everyone
uses. At St. PhilipÕs, usually that means that everyone leaves something there,
and it sits for days or weeks. The library has become a haven of order for us,
and we appreciate the calm space.

(And in this picture, please ignore the
clutter the photographer left behind on the table!)

Now, itÕs not
just within the walls of St. PhilipÕs that order comes out of chaos! The
volunteers at the Shop of St. PhilipÕs recently opened up their Christmas Shop
in the back room. Here, Carol and Sharon admire their hard workÉ

Ellie and Carol sort through the holiday garments for sale.

A few assorted pictures of the remainder of the new displays. Be
sure to come shop before you begin your holiday decorating!
